Transposon re-targeting in pigs

Transposon re-targeting in pigs

Abstract

Recently, we established the Sleeping Beauty transposon system for germ line competent transgenesis in the pig. Here, we extend this approach to re-target a transposon-tagged locus for a site-specific integration. This method allows for the precise control of transposon integration, enabling the efficient generation of transgenic pigs with desired traits. The Sleeping Beauty transposon system has been shown to be a powerful tool for transgenesis in various species, including pigs. Our results demonstrate the feasibility of re-targeting a transposon-tagged locus in pigs, paving the way for the development of novel transgenic pig models for biomedical research.
