Fighting biofilms with lantibiotics and other group

Fighting biofilms with lantibiotics and other group

Abstract

Biofilms are complex communities of bacteria embedded in an extracellular matrix. Lantibiotics, a type of antimicrobial peptide, have shown promise in combating biofilm formation. This research activity aims to investigate the efficacy of lantibiotics and other antimicrobial compounds in disrupting biofilm formation and reducing bacterial recalcitrance. The study will explore the molecular mechanisms underlying biofilm formation and the potential of lantibiotics to target specific biofilm-related genes. The findings of this research will contribute to the development of novel antimicrobial strategies to combat biofilm-related infections.
