Abstract

Longitudinal bone growth occurs by a process called endochondral ossification that includes chondrocyte proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. Recent studies have shown that L-type calcium channels play a crucial role in this process. Understanding the function of these channels is essential for developing new treatments for bone-related disorders.
