Biochemical heterogeneity of splenic purine nucleoside phosphorylase (NP-1A) from five strains of wild mice

Abstract

Inbred and wild mice having the same purine nucleoside phosphorylase-1 electromorph exhibit differences in specific activity, Michaelis constants and thermal stability. The Np-1a allele of C57BL/6J represents a high-activity variant. The Np-1 locus appears to be under regulatory control.
