Analysis of Drosophila cardiac hypertrophy by microcomputerized tomography for genetic dissection of heart growth mechanisms
Genetic analysis of Drosophila cardiac hypertrophy holds immense potential for the discovery of new therapeutic targets to prevent and treat heart failure. This potential has been hindered by a lack of rapid and effective methods for analyzing heart size in flies. Here, we demonstrate that analysis of the Drosophila heart with microcomputerized tomography yields accurate and highly reproducible heart size measurements that can be used to analyze heart growth and cardiac hypertrophy in Drosophila.
