Colección especímenes del herbario amazónico del Ecuador (ECUAMZ)

Abstract

El Herbario ECUAMZ aloja, clasifica y conserva colectas botánicas de plantas vasculares y no vasculares según estándares oficiales y reúne especímenes botánicos procedentes de diversos ecosistemas ecuatorianos y especialmente de la región amazónica conservando más de 60 Tipos entre Holotipos e Isotipos de nuevas especies. El símbolo del Herbario ECUAMZ es la flor de Meriania pastazana Wurdack (familia Melastomataceae), una planta de especial belleza que es endémica de esta región del país. El acrónimo ECUAMZ significa Ecuador Amazónico, y fue registrado 2012 en el índice de Herbarios del Mundo, Index Herbariorum. Periódicamente los datos referentes a dichas colecciones se ingresan en la base de datos tropicos.org donde los expertos pueden acceder a la información de campo e imágenes existentes.
