Titanium salts of mono‐carboxylic acids. II. Reaction of Titanium Isopropoxide and ethoxide with acetic anhydride
AbstractThe reaction of titanium ethoxide and isopropoxide with excess of acetic anhydride results in the formation of a compound with the formula . No tetra‐acetate of titanium could be prepared by the above reaction. The reaction of titanium isopropoxide with acetic anhydride (one, two and three moles) was further tried. It has been shown that the reaction upto two moles is facile and the compounds, Ti(OPr1)3 (OAc) and Ti(OPr1)2 (OAc)2, have been prepared for the first time. Further reaction of the diacetate with acetic anhydride becomes slow and the tri‐acetate formed reacts with the remaining diacetate resulting finally in a product which corresponds in analysis to . This product also on treatment with excess acetic anhydride has been found to yield .
