Abstract

El Museo de Entomología de la Universidad del Valle (MUSENUV) cuenta con especímenes de escarabajos carábidos adultos (Coleoptera: Carabidae) sin incluir a los Cicindelinae, los cuales representan el 28,4% de la riqueza de géneros del país. Para ampliar el conocimiento de la diversidad biológica y distribución de la familia Carabidae en la región, se revisaron estos especímenes, que corresponden a colectas realizadas entre los años 1970 y 2015. Los especímenes pertenecen a 14 departamentos y 44 municipios, siendo Cali la localidad con mayor número de registros (104) y la región Andina, la más representada (273). El rango de altitud de los especímenes está entre 0 y 3700 m s.n.m. El conjunto de datos de esta colección ofrece importante información sobre los géneros y algunas especies de carábidos del suroccidente colombiano, con algunos reportes nuevos de distribución y especímenes de interés, dada su rara incidencia para el país.
