Karyotype differences of Camellia sinensis cv CH-1 and its natural hybrid progenies CH-4 and CH-6
CH-4 and CH-6 are two natural hybrid offspring of Camellia sinensis cv CH-1. CH-1 is as the female parent, whereas male parents are unknown. In this research, we try to obtain cytological parameters of the three kinds of tea plants, and analyze the chromosomal karyotype differences among them. The results showed that the relative length of CH-1 was ranged from 3.19% to 9.47%, and max arm ratio was determined 4.06. The karyotype asymmetry index was 61.549%, and the karyotype formula was 2n=2x=30=18m+10sm (2SAT)+2st. The relative length of CH-4 was ranged from 4.28% to 8.47%, and max arm ratio was determined 2.47. The karyotype asymmetry index was 62.495%, and the karyotype formula was 2n=2x=30=16m+14sm. The relative length was ranged from 4.54% to 8.16%, and max arm ratio of CH-6 was determined 2.71. The karyotype asymmetry index was 60.558%, and the karyotype formula was 2n=2x=30=20m+10sm. The karyotype characteristics of CH-1 was type 2C, while those of CH-4 and No.6 are type 2B, according to Stebbins’s classification criteria. Only CH-1 has a pair of satellites. According to the karyotype asymmetry index and average arm ratio, the hybrid progeny CH-4 is the most evolutive, follows by the female parent CH-1, while the hybrid progeny CH-6 is the most primitive.CH-4 and CH-6 are two natural hybrid offspring of Camellia sinensis cv CH-1.
