Abstract

El Herbario de la Universidad de Málaga (Herbario MGC) está constituido por cuatro colecciones biológicas. La colección de plantas vasculares (MGC Cormof) es la colección principal del herbario. La base de datos MGC-Briof tiene como objetivo la digitalización y publicación de los datos asociados con los más de 1.260 ejemplares depositados en la colección, de los cuales el 99,1% de las muestras se encuentran identificadas a nivel de especie. Desde 2011, los Servicios Centrales de Investigación (SCAI) de la Universidad de Málaga son responsables de mantener el herbario y sus respectivas bases de datos. La colección está digitalizada a través del programa Herbar v3.7.1 (F. Pando et al. 1996-2011), estando la información de los especímenes accesibles a través de la red de GBIF (http://www.gbif.org/dataset/96bfeedc-f762-11e1-a439-00145eb45e9a). La colección MGC-Briof alberga 88 familias, siendo Pottiaceae (15,6%), Brachytheciaceae (8,6 %) y Grimmiaceae (6,3 %) las mejor representadas. Se contabilizan 214 géneros, los cuales incluyen 491 especies o bien 515 taxones si atendemos a las categorías infraespecíficas. Los géneros más abundantes son Bryum (4,8 %), Racomitrium (3,2 %) y Fissidens (2,6 %). La mayoría de los pliegos proceden de la Península Ibérica y Canarias, predominantemente del sur de España (Andalucia= 47.2% de los especímenes), siento la provincia de Málaga la mejor representada con un 30%. La mayor incorporación de pliegos en la colección MGC-Briof se dio entre 1976 y 1986, años que reflejan la intensa actividad del Dr. Juan Guerra. El herbario MGC es uno de los herbarios de referencia para Flora Briofitica Iberica (Guerra 2006-). La revista Acta Botanica Malacitana (B. Cabezudo 1975-) (http://www.biolveg.uma.es/abm/abm.html) está estrechamente relacionada con el herbario MGC y periódicamente publica artículos que están basados en datos incluidos en su colección. The herbarium of University of Málaga (MGC Herbarium) is formed by four biological collections. The vascular plants collection (MGC-Cormof ) is the main collection of the herbarium. MGC-Briof dataset aims to digitize and publish data associated with over 1.260 specimens deposited in the collection, of which 99.1% of the specimens are identified at species level. Since 2011, the University of Malaga’s Central Research Service (SCAI) has been responsible for maintaining the herbarium and their datasets. The collection is digitized by Herbar v3.7.1 software (F. Pando et al. 1996-2011), making over specimens accessible through the GBIF network (http://www.gbif.org/dataset/96bfeedc-f762-11e1-a439-00145eb45e9a). MGC-Briof collection contain 88 families, Pottiaceae (15.6%), Brachytheciaceae (8.6 %) and Grimmiaceae (6.3 %) being the most important. There are 214 genera, which contain 491 species and 515 taxa (including infraspecific categories). Main genera in order of abundance are Bryum (4.8 %), Racomitrium (3.2 %) y Fissidens (2.6 %). Most of the sheets are from Iberian Peninsula, mainly Southern Spain (Andalusia= 47.2% of specimens), Malaga province being the most important with 30%. The higher sheet intake in this collection was since 1976 to 1986, main research period of PhD. Juan Guerra at University of Malaga. The journal Acta Botanica Malacitana (B. Cabezudo 1975-) (http://www.biolveg.uma.es/abm/abm.html) is closely associated with the MGC Herbarium and periodically publishes papers that are based on data included in its dataset.
