Bird Ringing Database Across Several African Countries
Abstract
Between 2002 and 2025, researcher Martim Melo and various collaborators compiled a dataset of banded bird specimens across Angola, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, and São Tomé and Príncipe. This dataset includes key characteristics of the ringed specimens, such as species identification, age, sex, and biometric measurements. The data contribute to understanding species distribution, migration patterns, and population dynamics. It serves as a valuable resource for conservation and ecological research, particularly in regions facing habitat loss and environmental changes.
