Abstract

O Herbário MPUC foi iniciado a partir de uma coleção histórica, de 572 espécimes coletados entre 1930 e 1960. Mais tarde, esta coleção passou a fazer parte do Museu de Ciências e Tecnologia da PUCRS, do qual deriva a sigla MPUC. A coleção abrange principalmente plantas nativas no Rio Grande do Sul, a maioria Angiospermas, além de fungos e fungos liquenizados. O acervo abriga alguns espécimes tipo como isoparátipos, isótipos e parátipos. O MPUC faz parte da Rede Brasileira de Herbários e está cadastrado no Diretório Global de Herbários Públicos, o Index Herbariorum. A coleção está integralmente on line aqui na rede speciesLink e na base de dados de biodiversidade internacional GBIF–Global Biodiversity Information Facility.
