NX-Fanerogamas - Herbário Nova Xavantina

Abstract

O Herbário NX foi fundado em 1997 e faz parte da Coleção Zoobotânica James Alexander Ratter do curso de Ciências Biológicas, Campus de Nova Xavantina, Universidade do Estado de Mato Grosso (UNEMAT). O NX está localizado na transição entre os dois maiores biomas brasileiros, a Amazônia e o Cerrado, e permite que se preservem informações importantes sobre a flora de uma região fortemente ameaçada por mudanças antrópicas e ambientais. Seu acervo abrange uma região de quase 200 mil km2, contendo atualmente cerca de 15 mil espécimens, sendo que sua representatividade geográfica está concentrada no Bioma Cerrado (coletas de Mato Grosso, Goiás, Distrito Federal e São Paulo), na transição Cerrado-Amazônia (Gaúcha do Norte, Ribeirão Cascalheira, Porto Alegre do Norte, Canabrava do Norte, Santa Terezinha e Querência, em Mato Grosso e Santana do Araguaia, no Pará), na Amazônia (Rondônia e sul do Pará) e no Pantanal do Araguaia - Planície Sedimentar do Bananal (Ribeirão Cascalheira, Cocalinho, São Félix do Araguaia e Novo Santo Antônio, em Mato Grosso).
