Abstract

El Chocó Biogeográfico, en especial el bajo Atrato se encuentra representado principalmente por ciénagas y bosques inundados, los cuales se distribuyen a través de la llanura aluvial del río Atrato, con un gran número de hectáreas correspondientes a estos ecosistemas; Particularmente esta zona resulta de gran importancia para el desarrollo de las poblaciones de Rhaphia taedigera, en sitos que permanecen inundadas durante la mayor parte del año. Por otra parte los ecosistemas de esta área resultan de gran importancia para el descanso y alimentación de varias especies de fauna. De acuerdo con las apreciaciones antes mencionadas en el presente estudio se caracterizó y analizó la densidad poblacional de Raphia taedigera para la zona del bajo Atrato y las especies que se encuentran en asocio con dichas poblaciones, con la finalidad de comprender y en tender la dinámica de estos ecosistemas.
