Abstract

El MHUA fue creado en 1998 como resultado de los diferentes proyectos de investigación llevados a cabo principalmente en el departamento de Antioquia, financiados por la Corporación Autonoma del Centro de Antioquia (Corantioquia), la Universidad de Antioquia, la Universidad Nacional de Colombia (sede Medellín), y Colciencias. Actualmente varios proyectos financiados por la Universidad de Antioquia y diferentes entidades privadas y publicas están incrementando el acervo de la colección. Actualmente, la colección preserva más de 13.000 especímenes, de los que 8.195 son anfibios.
