Abstract

El Herbario "CHOCÓ" de la Universidad Tecnológica del Chocó, se creó en 1983, y comprende una serie de ejemplares colectados desde 1955 en toda la región del Chocó, una de las zonas mas biodiversas del mundo. La colección se alimenta de investigaciones realizadas por nativos y foráneos, quienes han muestreado gran parte del territorio chocoano. El Herbario está compuesto por una colección general y cuatro colecciones especiales: colección de tipos, colección de maderas “Xiloteca”, colección de frutos “Carpoteca” y colección de hongos “ Micoteca”. La colección general se encuentra organizada según el sistema de clasificación de Cronquist (1981) para Angiosperma y la clasificación de J. A Crabbe et al. (1975) para Plantas inferiores y Gimnospermas. Cada familia está organizada en orden alfabético de géneros y especies y dispuestos de acuerdo al grado de identificación.
