Revisión de la subfamilia Asopinae (Hemiptera-Heteroptera-Pentatomidae) para México

Abstract

Los asopinos (Hemiptera-Heteroptera-Pentatomidae) constituyen un grupo de insectos benéficos, depredadores de plagas de relevancia económica y utilizados eminentemente en su control biológico. El conocimiento taxonómico de los asopinos mexicanos ha sido construido por diversos autores como Stäl (1862-1872) el primero, Schouteden (1907) y Thomas (1992) que le siguieron. Con este conocimiento y los datos extraídos de importantes colecciones, como la resguardada por el Departamento de Zoología del Instituto de Biología de la UNAM y algunas otras privadas ubicadas en el extranjero, los responsables de este proyecto apoyado por la CONABIO, realizaron un análisis sistemático y elaboraron una base de datos con información de un total 1660 ejemplares de asopinos mexicanos, correspondientes a 34 especies. Este material proporciona elementos que apoyan la investigación de áreas ecológicas y de aprovechamiento, así como agrícolas y sistemas de control biológico.
