La familia Asclepiadaceae en México

Abstract

Proyecto para la generación de una base de datos en formato electrónico que optimice el manejo de la información florística-taxonómica contenida en las etiquetas de herbario de los especimenes de las Asclepiadáceas mexicanas, depositados en cinco de los herbarios más importantes de México. Esta base de datos contendrá un número mínimo de 7,500 ejemplares, en su gran mayoría debidamente identificados a nivel de especie. La familia Asclepiadaceae se distribuye ampliamente en México; todos los estados del país cuentan con registros para la familia (Villaseñor, datos no publicados). Sin embargo, no existe hasta el momento información confiable sobre cómo se distribuyen sus géneros y especies en el territorio nacional. Hasta donde sabemos, tampoco existe una base de datos que incluya la información sistematizada de los ejemplares herborizados que documenten su distribución geográfica, información básica para realizar estudios florísticos y/o taxonómicos a nivel regional, estatal o nacional.
