Muséum d'histoire naturelle de Nîmes

Abstract

Inauguré en 1895, le Muséum présente les collections de savants et d’explorateurs regroupées par la Société d’Étude des Sciences Naturelles de Nîmes et du Gard depuis 1871. Sous l’impulsion des différents conservateurs qui se sont succédé, la collection n’a jamais cessé de s’agrandir. Aujourd’hui, le Muséum conserve des milliers de pièces de préhistoire locale et d’ethnologie, de spécimens de zoologie, géologie, paléontologie et botanique, ainsi qu’une bibliothèque. Les Herbiers de Gustave Cabanès (1864 Vergèze - 1944 Nîmes) et d'Armand Lombard-Dumas (1836 Uzès - 1909 Sommières), qui concernent principalement la flore du Gard, ont été numérisés dans le cadre de RECOLNAT.
