Abstract

La Colección de Mamíferos del Museo de Historia Natural C.J. Marinkelle (ANDES-M), cuenta con 2.738 especímenes recolectados desde 1945. La colección se comenzó a fortalecer desde principios de la década de 1960 durante la estancia de James R Tamsitt y Darío Valdivieso, con especímenes provenientes de estudios zoonóticos, y luego con la vinculación de Cornelis Johannes Marinkelle en 1963 quedando a cargo de la línea de Mastozoología con estudios enfocados en Parasitología. Esto llevó al crecimiento de las colecciones del museo a partir del material biológico obtenido en sus muestreos en diferentes localidades del país.Actualmente están representados 12 órdenes, 36 familias, 106 géneros y 160 especies. Alberga especímenes de seis países y la representatividad geográfica para Colombia es de 27 departamentos, principalmente del Meta y Santander.
