Colecta de muestras fecales de primates (Atelidae y Cebidae) para la determinación de prevalencia de Plasmodium sp.

Abstract

El presente estudio busca evaluar la prevalencia de Plasmodium sp. en tres especies de primates no humanos (Cebus albifrons, Ateles hybridus, Alouatta seniculus) y los vectores del género Anopheles asociados a la transmisión, en cuatro sitios con diferente grado de fragmentación, localizados a lo largo del Magdalena Medio. Se colectaron muestras fecales de los primates, a partir de las cuales se realizaron extracciones de ADN mediante el kit QIAamp DNA stool, PCR, electroforesis y secuenciación para identificación de Plasmodium sp. Adicionalmente se colectaron mosquitos del género Anopheles por medio de trampas CDC con atrayente, que fueron identificados taxonómicamente. Se seleccionaron las hembras para realizar extracción de ADN mediante el kit ZR Tissue &Insect DNA MiniPrep, PCR, electroforesis y secuenciación con el fin de llevar a cabo la identificación de Plasmodium sp. Este recurso contiene la información de 21 muetras (sangre y heces) de 3 especies de primates, colectadas en el año 2017 en los departamentos de Antioquia y Santander.
