Muséum d’histoire naturelle du Mans

Abstract

Le Muséum d’histoire naturelle du Mans conserve 450.000 spécimens dans ses collections. Il est particulièrement riche dans la paléontologie du Mésozoïque de l’Ouest du Bassin Parisien, notamment pour le Cénomanien dont le stratotype a été décrit au Mans. Ses collections de fossiles comprennent actuellement 1200 types et figurés. Son fonds comprend également la collection Maulny, cabinet de curiosité daté de la fin du 18e siècle parmi les mieux conservés en France. Les autres collections sont centrées sur la Sarthe, la Mayenne et la Basse-Normandie.
