Abstract

El Museo de Ciencias creado desde el año 2003 junto con el Programa de Biología, cuenta con el Área de Invertebrados Marinos que acoge todas las colecciones relacionadas con organismos marinos que provienen de colecciones, trabajos de grado o proyectos académicos de investigación. En la actualidad la Colección de Referencia de Equinodermos contiene 201 registros provenientes de cinco departamentos del Caribe colombiano: Antioquia, Bolívar, Chocó, La Guajira y Magdalena, en los ecosistemas ambiente marino, ambiente marino-costero, ambiente marino costa afuera, ecosistema arrecife de coral, ecosistema arenoso, ecosistema de pastos marinos, ecosistema rocoso y fondos sedimentarios. El 74% de los ejemplares proceden de proyectos académicos de investigación y el 26% de donaciones de consultoras. El 11.9% (24) de los ejemplares se encuentran determinados a nivel de filo, el 6.9% (14) a clase, el 0.5% (1) a orden, el 0.5% (1) a superfamilia, 15.5% (31) a familia, 4.9% (10) a género y 59.7% (120) a especie.
