Wairambar Rainforest Species List
The data comprises a species list for 2017 for the Wairambar Rainforest, a refugia area inland from Mt. Bartle Frere near Topaz 4885 far north Queensland. The property, at 15 Doonoquienbar Road, is situated at 685m and receives about 4000mm of rainfall per year plus a subsantial amount of moisture from cloud stripping. A year round basic research facility with accommodation is available at no charge to genuine researchers Contact: wairambar.rainforest@aol.com The Property: WGS84 Coordinates: -17.419190 South 145.728701 East website: https://sites.google.com/view/wairambarrainforest Elevation 600-700m Rainfall 4000mm/year Variety of ecotones in diverse geology, spring lines, seepages, large permanent creek, fully forested with mature rainforest, young rainforest and cyclone affected rainforest high biodiversity ancient Gondwanan refugia bordering the Wet Tropics World Heritage Rainforest. Due to extreme terrain and dense vegetation, GPS is inaccurate so we have located using radius of 250m from the coodinates provided and falling within the 24Ha totally forested property. We offer free use of an on-site all weather research facility to genuine researchers provided that at some stage they provide their species data to us or direct to the ALA. Our qualifications We are both accredited rainforest guides/ OPWS and TREAT rainforest restoration, seed collection and preparation / members of the Tree Kangaroo and Mammal Group / users of trin.org.au / qualifications in ecotourism / trial strategies and techniques of rainforest restoration / links with Ngadjon traditional owners / have a wide range of experts to call on.
