Abstract

La colección oológica del Instituto Alexander von Humboldt (IAvH-CJM) nació en el año 2001 cuando el médico neerlandés Cornelis J. Marinkelle, radicado en Colombia desde 1963, la donó al Instituto, motivo por el cual la colección actualmente lleva su nombre. Durante los últimos años la colección ha crecido gracias a colectas hechas por el equipo de Instituto y, más recientemente, investigadores de la Universidad ICESI. A diferencia de las otras colecciones del Instituto, la fortaleza de esta colección es que ella preserva material proveniente del mundo entero. De esta manera, en la colección hay nidadas de 4718 especies que representan 155 familias de aves y que provienen de 114 países diferentes. Este acervo la convierte en la mayor colección oológica en Latinoamérica.
