Abstract

O Herbário ALCB é um dos mais importantes do estado pois têm em seu acervo espécimes representantes de todos os ecossistemas brasileiros e coleções botânicas históricas, como as do Padre Caminhoá e Pierre Verger. Atualmente, o acervo consta de 109.700 exsicatas, entre as quais 87.603 são fanerógamas, 11.731 briófitas, sendo oito espécimes tipo oriundos da Floresta Atlântica da Bahia, 7.108 algas, 1.900 Pteridófitas (Lycophyta e Monilophyta), 555 fungos e 803 amostras de madeiras, grande parte referente aos diversos biomas da Bahia, e em menor número a outros estados do nordeste ou doações de outras regiões do Brasil. As classificações utilizadas para a organização do acervo levam em conta aquelas propostas por: Wynne (2011) para algas; Goffinet et al. (2008) para Bryophyta; Crandall-Stotler et al. (2009) para Marchantiophyta; Duff et al. (2007) para as Anthocerotophyta; Smith et al. (2004) para Pteridófitas e APG III (2009) para as Angiospermas.
