Abstract
A coleção do herbário BHCB conta com mais 201.000 exsicatas de Briófitas, Licófitas, Samambaias e Fanerógamas provenientes de Minas Gerais e diversas regiões do Brasil. O acervo de Fanerógamas conta com aproximadamente 171.000 espécimes. O acervo de Samambaias e Licófitas foi desmembrado, constituindo a subcoleção BHCB-SL, que deve ser consultada separadamente, o mesmo acontece com a coleção de Briófitas, BHCB-Bryophyta. Os espécimes tipos ainda estão vinculados à base de dados do BHCB. O Herbário BHCB abriga uma coleção de tipos com mais de 600 exemplares, com destaque para aqueles coletados por Henrique Lahmeyer de Mello Barreto (1892-1962).
