Abstract

El Herbario MAIA tiene su origen en las colecciones del antiguo Instituto Forestal de Investigaciones y Experiencias (1929). Está ordenado segun el sistema filogenetico de clasificación de plantas de Adolf Engler. Contiene fundamentalmente arboles, arbustos y especies herbaceas recogidas en los bosques y pastizales naturales de España.Es un herbario historico fundado en 1940 y actualmente adscrito al centro de Investigacion Forestal (CIFOR) del Instituto Nacional de Investigacion y Tecnologia Agraria y Alimentaria (INIA), dependiente del MINECO.El herbario esta compuesto principalmente por la coleccion de taxones del genero Eucalyptus, ligados a los trabajos del Mapa Forestal de España.La coleccion MAIA-Euc esta dedicada al género Eucalyptus. Contiene 590 pliegos de 126 taxones especificos de este género –o afines- cultivados en España.
