AI technology in healthcare can assist with diagnosis, development of a personalised treatment plan, and adequate follow-up. In contrast to, for example, building an MRI scanner, the development and inner working of AI technology is substantially less well documented. Doctors and patients can therefor not trust the technology at a comparable level as the MRI scanner. In this ELSA lab we study the technological, legal, and clinical-ethical aspects of AI technology that is certified to be used responsibly.
