Green coding: energy efficient use of limited compute resources

Description

With the exponential growth of the volume of scientific data, there is also a growing need for awareness of the environmental impact associated with data storage and computing. On November 21st 2024 the Green Labs IT working group and Big Data Core of the Princess Máxima Center for Pediatric Oncology organize a Green Coding event in collaboration with the Netherlands eScience Center and SURF. We welcome researchers in the life sciences who want to learn about energy usage of coding and get pointers to make their coding practices greener and more efficient.
