Traditional production patterns that characterized twentieth century capitalism are challenged by what is considered the Future of Work. One key manifestation of the Future of Work is the emergence of digital labour platforms that enable on-demand service tasks to transcend geographic boundaries and link supply and demand of labour at global level. This project examines the labour market strategies of Filipinos working via these platforms and how self-directed learning is central to securing a position here. With self-directed learning gaining importance, digital labour platforms operate as a frontrunner in what will become common across a range of jobs and professions.
