Biobased materials are a promising solution to reduce CO2 emissions from the construction industry. These materials are made of renewable plant-based raw materials, unlike the non-renewable fossil raw materials used in the production of traditional building materials. Biobased materials include elephant grass, straw, bamboo and hemp. For the large-scale application of biobased materials, it is necessary to improve the performance of these materials and to clarify guidelines for testing the properties of these materials. This project aims to measure in situ the physical properties of biobased materials, which are necessary for the correct and responsible application of these materials.
