"The project ""Programming as an innovative method of learning and teaching in European schools"" was addressed to students of European schools aged 13-16. The main goal of the project is to improve the quality of school work and to give students more opportunities to acquire knowledge of key competences through the practical application of programming and developing language and multicultural competences. The specific objectives are: - acquisition of basic programming skills and ways to use them in extending knowledge by project participants, - developing international social competences of students from all partner schools, - using information technologies in the process of acquiring knowledge and skills; developing intercultural and language competences. The task of the project was to show students how to use ICT tools, especially programming languages and coding, in better assimilation of knowledge in the field of various school subjects. By acquiring programming skills and creating themed games, the students learned to consolidate their general knowledge and satisfy the curiosity of the world. Thanks to this, they have also developed their creativity, key competences, mathematical reasoning and the ability to formulate conclusions. The project was implemented in accordance with the assumptions in the international group, and the main language of communication was English, which made the participants develop their language skills and the ability to cooperate. In addition, students acquired knowledge of the culture and customs of partner countries. Participation in mobility was an opportunity for them to acquire knowledge and learn about the world outside the school's walls. They acquired the ability to make decisions and increased their responsibility for their own choices. All this contributed to their sense of belonging to European society and provided them with features that are probably indispensable in future professional work. The use of modern information and computer technologies is a prerequisite for continuing education and providing employment opportunities. Four partners participated in the project, including the applicant. They represented European schools being the equivalent of the Polish gymnasium. Apart from the Primary School No. 3 in Zamość, which was called School Complex No. 3 in Zamość at the beginning of the project, it was also the IC di Via Valletta Fogliano school in Vigevano, Italy, Audru Kool school in the province of Parnu, Estonia, and College prive Sainte Marie in Ribeauvillé, France. 18 students from each school participated in the project. They took part in a total of four student exchanges between schools, during which they worked together to complete programming tasks. As part of local activities, in the period between mobility, students collected materials, communicated via the Internet, prepared information in the field of cultural studies and performed tasks entrusted to carers in the form of presentations and games made thanks to the acquisition of coding skills. In addition, 3 project meetings for teachers took placeThe project consisted of three modules: Module 1 - learning programming. At that time, local activities and training for participants of mobility and teachers in Poland took place. Module 2 - the use of programming to acquire knowledge about the culture of partner country schools and the creation of games and databases for programs that reinforce knowledge of various school subjects. The implementation of these activities focused mainly on working in international groups during student mobility in France and Italy. 3-student class through programming fun. Students created games using programming and various applications, mainly working in groups during mobility in Estonia. As part of the project, both teachers and students were trained in basic programming languages. As a result of the project, the teachers developed examples of lesson scenarios using coding, developing knowledge and skills in various school subjects. In addition, a program of extra-curricular activities in the basics of programming was developed. Most of these materials will be formulated in English so that they can be used in all partner schools and by all other interested parties. Thanks to such an innovative approach to using ICT in teaching, which was proposed in the project, the students enriched their knowledge and were motivated to undertake similar tasks on their own initiative. Teachers have enriched their work skills significantly, and their methods have become more attractive to students. They shared their knowledge and experience with other teachers, thanks to which schools became even more open to introducing modern technologies to teaching."
