Solutions Against Greenhouse Effect

Description

Global warming and climate change is a problem that everybody should be aware and convinced of.This project aims to study the reasons of this phenomenon, especially the greenhouse gas emissions due to transportation and to look for some solutions to stop or at least to reduce them.Three schools, from France, Italy and Slovenia, will participate with around 100 students aged between 13 and 17 years old.The first year will be dedicated to the observation of the global warming by analysing weather statistics and to the understanding of the greenhouse effect thanks to measurements and experiments. Moreover, ways to compensate these emissions will be studied. The competences of the Italian partners in biology and chemistry will help the other partners in this part of the project. The second year will be dedicated to the research of solutions to reduce greenhouse emissions due to transportation.Reducing transportation can be a first solution. Slovenian partners are strongly engaged in the physical education of their pupils. They will help the others to reflect and to change their way of moving, especially on short distances. To reduce transportation of goods, consumer habits must also be changed. Solutions for consuming local and seasonal products will also be searched.New technologies and energy sources are now used for transportation. The city of the French partners will soon get a new hydrogen fuel cell bus line. The study of this energy source and of others, like solar panels for example, will aim to understand that technology can also help in finding solutions to reduce global warming. Some applications for mobile devices will be developed, open cartography of green installations will be done, all results of statistics, experiments, measurements and surveys will be published in an open format in the Twinspace of the project and presented during school festivals and science fairs. The objective of the dissemination is to raise awareness of the problem of global warming among a wider audience.
