ECoGREEN - Empowering Transdisciplinary Collaboration and Green Entrepreneurial Education Towards Sustainable Campus and Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in Indonesia

Description

The European Green Deal encourages citizens, businesses, academics and governments to create new innovation solving societal challenges to reduce carbon emissions and provide future jobs. This capacity building project intends to provide opportunities for Indonesian universities to develop their capacities dealing with future complex issues. It aims to integrate sustainability learning and green entrepreneurship into higher education in Indonesia by creating sustainable ecosystems through education and community development and engaging Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) toward sustainable business practices. Students and MSMEs are two main target groups of the project who will impact the likelihood of a sustainable earth while providing future sustainable jobs and businesses. Hence, the integration of both sustainability learning and green entrepreneurship is crucial for Indonesian universities. This project will develop new and innovative courses integrating sustainability learning and applying transdisciplinary approach at 6 Indonesian universities (70.900 students and 2.690 teachers). In addition, inter-university co-curricular activities are designed to enable collaboration across all partners: students, teachers, and MSMEs focusing on development of sustainability and green entrepreneurial competences. The project will also create sustainable and green campus platforms that facilitate collaboration in education and research across all partner universities and develop the capabilities of MSMEs to deal with sustainability challenges in Indonesia. To ensure the quality of results, the project combines three methodologies: UNDP’s Capacity Development Process, Framework for Achieving Campus Sustainability and the Quadruple Helix of Entrepreneurship Education. In doing so, the objective of this project - integrating sustainability learning and green entrepreneurship into higher education in Indonesia - will be achieved by the end of the project.
