Get Out of the Loop

Description

"New forms of poverty hit both individuals and families in Italy and in Europe. After the recent economic crisis, poverty has doubled, affecting young people who cannot find work, adults who have lost it, families who are becoming indebted. In addition to economic instability, social precarity and the breakdown of family and friendship ties were added. All these factors have accentuated the people’s vulnerability. The economic difficulties and social isolation have thus expelled individuals from welfare systems, family-based networks and training systems, creating a vicious circle that leads people who are not part of the labor market forced out into social exclusion. Only those who can resist in times of troubles, by keeping up-to-date and by looking for job opportunities, they are able to emerge from the crisis, while the most fragile and unstable people fall into situations of marginalization and chronic poverty, and remain trapped. The GOL project, ""Get out of the Loop"", aims to tackle the theme of social exclusion in an innovative way, such as: -valorizing existing good practices in Europe to combat social exclusion; - comparing operators working on marginality with European tools and practices against social exclusion; - bring out the new needs on social inclusion by the operators who work every day in this sector together with the excluded - confronting the methods of “generative welfare”, based on the involvement of the excluded and the resigned who do not seek work and do not inform about their rights, developing the empowerment of the marginalized people and re-creating the link broken at the community level - analyzing social policy experiments based on the resilience of people in times of difficulty and crisis - monitor social protection systems to identify practices that best respond to the problems of poverty and social exclusion - promoting systems of active citizenship, rather than passive welfare, for the weakest - developing a model of social inclusion practices to be used in social centers, associations and non-governmental organizations dealing with poverty and social exclusion - experimenting the model proposed by the partnership and contextualize it in own reality The Partners are Association, Fundation, Vocational Training centers, Cooperative, working on marginality and social exclusion aiming to strengthen networks of local existing services in order to reach the most excluded citizens. The target of the GOL project is represented by the Consortium ‘s social operators who want to strengthen and experiment methodologies to fight new poverty; by representatives of the communities and associations of the most marginalized people; by people excluded from Welfare systems. Staff mobility will allow social operators to know and compare the best ways to fight social exclusion used by organizations, communities and countries of the Consortium . At the end of the project the following will be realized: - a vademecum of good practices; - a good practice model - a dedicated area for operators within partner websites on the tools and paths used to combat social exclusion - a recommendation to policymakers on good practices to combat social exclusion in line with the EU's Europe 2020 Strategy, a first step to exit the ""vicious circle"" of social exclusion."
