Technology in Rehabilitation

Description

"During the last years, rehabilitation activities have become more and more important, since the number of people with disabilities is growing for many reasons (e.g. ageing of the population and increase of chronic diseases). The introduction of leading-edge technologies in the treatment of disabilities is central in order to improve the efficiency of rehabilitation and the access to health-care services. The conjunction between Medicine and Engineering in the field of rehabilitation is the future for new effective methodologies. The objective of the project TechReh (Technology in Rehabilitation) was to build the capacities of Universities and Medical Centres in Uzbekistan in innovative rehabilitation techniques. TechReh focused on 3 main outputs: 1. Developing a Master Programme ""Computer Systems for Medicine"", 2. Modernising a Master Programme in Medical Rehabilitation and 3. Developing short courses for professionals from medical and technical fields. The activities included the establishment of an office with state of the art equipment in each Partner University in Uzbekistan, which should play a crucial role in promoting research and the use of technology in medical rehabilitation."
