Young Voices for social inclusion of Roma women

Description

"YOUNG VOICES is a visionary project that aims to build a Strategic Partnership of organisations that are working towards the advancement of the Roma community, in particular Roma women and youth. The project has a horizontal approach and employs a dialogic communicative methodology to ensure that it reaches the most vulnerable women and youth. The priorities of the project are social inclusion, promoting empowerment, and promoting quality youth work. YOUNG VOICES intends to strengthen this particular youth group including their voices, gathering them in a course to discuss and share good practices to overcome barriers to improve their living conditions, and promoting a network among young Roma grassroots women coming from different European countries. YOUNG VOICES will use its previous knowledge and build on its already existing networks to advance and ensure that quality, best practice methods lead to a successful project that have a tangible impact at a local, national and transnational level. 25 women of each country of the consortium will be directly benefit from the project and 500 will be indirect beneficiaries.Through knowledge sharing, capacity building, and creative dissemination outputs, which will include a Roma Women’s Manifesto, YOUNG VOICES will reach and engage Roma women and youth from four different European metropolis through social inclusion, promoting empowerment, and promoting quality youth work. YOUNG VOICES intends to strengthen this particular youth group though the active inclusion of their voices through gathering them in a course to discuss and share good practices and come up with solutions to overcoming the barriers and promoting a network among young Roma grassroots women. As part of this course, the participants (5 of each country of the consortium and 10 women of Drom Kotar Mestipen) will also attend the ""II International Congress of Roma Women:The other women"" (Barcelona, March 2017). Furthermore, the opinion of these young women will materialise in national manifestos and a collated European manifesto. These documents will be exploited and disseminated to stakeholders and policy-makers with recommendations about how to guide public services and public policies which will improve social inclusion of young Roma women. We will also make all materials open access through the use of various social media channels and a website that is visually representative of the community. Digital platforms will be essential in housing and sharing the various printable, audio and visual materials. The Project builds on already existing relationships, networks, projects and political support. The Catalan Government has been instrumental in support of the first and second International Roma Women’s Congress (March 23 & 24th, 2018) and has actively disseminated the findings to date. YOUNG VOICES aligns with this already foundational work yet takes it a step further as it focuses on the young Roma women and has the potential to further exploit this by increasing participation and producing successful results by tenfold. The Consortium is composed of four organisations that work with Roma young women towards the improvement of methodologies which encourage them to return to the educational system or to integrate in the formal working system and environments. The transnational factor is basic to increase representativeness of the conclusions and thus to gain political incidence, as well as to promote networking among young grassroots Roma women from diverse countries and cultures. The C1 Learning Activity ""Learning activity: Young ideas! Active participation for social inclusion"" The young women will debate and select what good practices are or may be the most successful for Roma women in the following areas: education, employment, health and feminism, and including the ""other young women"" in a space of equal dialogue about how to to overcome barriers to improve their social inclusion. In summary, YOUNG VOICES foregrounds the Roma women, builds on previous best practice successful projects, employs communicative methodology and weaves in a number of outputs that are tangible resources that can be repurposed and reused by a number of key stakeholders."
