Moving People in Volunteering

Description

Moving People in Volunteering- MPV was a 20-month capacity building project in the field of youth which involves 6 partners: 3 from Programme Countries (Italy, France, Hungary) & 3 from Partner ones (Kenya, Vietnam and Nepal). The MPV project came as an answer to the need of organisations to manage efficiently the growing numbers of youth willing to acquire experience, share and increase their skills and energy, thus improving their employability. The main aim of the project was to share and further explore practices for volunteers’ management at local and international level through non-formal learning and active participation. Objectives: - Promote young people's social inclusion and stimulate their active participation in democratic life;- Transfer the knowledge and know-how obtained in the duration of the project into a universal practice of volunteers management, available and open for use;- Support the professional development of staff and youth workers in managing volunteers, involving young people with a disadvantaged background, and enhancing cooperation among project partners. The project’s activities included mobility of youth workers & young people. The project supported and promoted the benefits of cooperation, offering opportunities for mobility abroad, strengthening a multi-level capacity building process for all involved actors. In particular, main project’s activities included:- 8-day training course (TC), involving 36 youth workers. During the TC the concept of volunteers’ management was introduced and elaborated, through sharing volunteering practices and experience in youth work. The TC allowed participants to discover the potential of volunteerism to promote social inclusion and respect to diversity. It was based on non-formal education methods allowing participants to identify & valorize their skills and permit them to transfer the acquired skills in their personal & professional life;- EVS mobility for 12 volunteers from all partner’s countries. During the mobility they were involved in the activities of the receiving organization, working with various types of people with fewer opportunities, based on cooperative & experiential learning. The planned activities fostered their capacities to design, run and evaluate non-formal learning activities. In addition they developed skills in leadership, community building, and intercultural dialogue. The positive effects of such activities resonated in the participating organisations increasing their capacities , fostering cooperation between Programme & Partner countries & improving the quality of youth work approaches & tools.
