The duration of the project included two years of five partners’ cooperation: Sinergia Societa Cooperativa Sociale from Italy, T.F.E.I from Great Britan, Adapazari Mesleki Egitim from Turkey, IPR from Portugal and Foundation Gaudete from Poland. The partnership was characterised by a flexible and efficient work system with partners. The project proposal had been based on permanent analysis, existing knowledge, know- how and practice. The target group consisted of elderly people who were in need of a wider range of educational activities. It had been essential to create training materials for educators in the areas of leisure, interests, health, well-being, volunteerism, emotional intelligence, cultural activity, and communication. The project allowed to mitigate a number of barriers making their comeback to learning difficult. The barriers include:- perceiving oneself as too old -fragile health, - commuting difficulties - lack of companion, - too little information. The realisation of the project contributed to drawing attention to the possibility of developing the resources available for older people.Previous psychological research into the education of older people was dominated by the deficit model. This model perceived the process of aging in respect of reduced cognitive and intellectual abilities. The project responded to the needs of :- Education based on realistic problems - seeking and finding solutions to problems.- Support in dealing with difficult moments and hardship in adults’ lives - immersion in the professional development and growth, - Acquiring new knowledge and skills,- Overcoming anxiety, fear and shyness in a senior’s life- Inspiring, encouraging and motivating to education. The participants of the project were teachers, coaches and the workers of partner organizations. The main objective of the project was to improve learning opportunities for older people in partner countries: Poland, Italy, Great Britain, Turkey and Portugal. The experience and nature of the partnership involving five organisations enabled the accomplishment of the above objectives of the project. The project was realistic and provided solutions to the problems relevant to the participating organizations and the target group. The realisation of the project indicated that its assumptions were tailored to the needs of seniors."
