"<< Background >>The Green Deal launched by President Von der Leyen echoes the growing environmental awareness and the need to provide answers to the climate change. Citizens, in their daily lives, are at the heart of this transition to a climate-neutral society: how we produce and consume, how we heat or cool our homes, how we travel, how we eat, how we work and finally how we live together. The success of the Green Deal, the achievement of carbon neutrality, will only be possible with the participation of all and in all economic and social areas, the Commission reminds us.Youth and European volunteering is a sector that can actively contribute to this, particularly because young people are ready for it, they are motivated and they are asking for their voice and their desire for commitment to be taken into account more in the programmes offered to them. This is the ambition of the Youth Goal 10 and an axis of the European youth strategy.Young people express their desire to play a more important role in this issue and wish to- Understand : to have trustworthy sources of information adapted to young people- Learn : to benefit from environmental and sustainable development education for young people within youth organisations (and in other settings). - Act : increase opportunities for environmental volunteering and support youth-led initiatives for the environment and climate change<< Objectives >>Addressing the needs of young people in terms of understanding, learning and taking action for the environment and the fight against climate change is one of the objectives of the European Volunteers for the Environment project: - Informing volunteers about the green deal and how their volunteering can contribute to developing their environmental attitudes and skills - Translate the climate pact into youth work and train youth workers to implement actions in the field or integrating the environmental dimension - Identify and gather good practices and pedagogical tools that can inspire youth workers and multiply the impact - Strengthen the skills of volunteer tutors on the Green deal, the climate pact and the notion of environmental competence - Invite and encourage host organisations to offer opportunities for engagement with the environment - Promote and make visible the actions of volunteers in favour of the environment<< Implementation >>These objectives will be pursued throughout the 30 months of the project, by bringing together the skills and expertise of 4 European partners and implementing specific actions:- analysis, research and conclusion to refine expectations and needs, develop tools and contents that fully meet the expectations and realities of young people and youth organisations/workers- explain the Green Deal and its concrete translation into the work of a volunteer tutor through the creation of micro-learning on the subject- to increase youth workers' skills and knowledge on the issues of the green deal and how youth work (and young people) can actively participate in it- create a platform dedicated to making accessible and visible opportunities for concrete environmental engagement across Europe- To stimulate action by young people, especially volunteers, around a high visibility action on the ""All for Environmental Action Day"" (United Nations)- inspire and share through the promotion of good practices in the field at European level. In addition to the production of educational content and methods, a European and local training programme will be set up for volunteer tutors (hybrid training) and youth workers. If the project ends, each partner will organise a major dissemination event of the project results, for the professional of their local community. All of the work in the European Volunteers for the Environment project is designed to have an impact, to reach the project's target groups and to provide young people with a response that is not just temporary. A very active dissemination, with a European dimension, supported by events such as the EVEday on 5 June and the dissemination of our pedagogical productions will participate in the creation of an informal but active network of European youth work actors and professionals in favour of the inclusion of environmental education and the fight against climate change in volunteering.<< Results >>It is a strong goal of EVE that an increasing number of volunteer missions allow this time of engagement to be an opportunity for young people to learn about the environment at the same time.It is translated in an operational way by the production of results which contribute to it, such as- a guidance and opportunities document on ""Environmental and climate change education in youth work and European volunteering"", a guiding and supporting document for decision makers and youth work operators- 1 e-learning platform and 11 micro-learning modules- 2 training curricula (1 for youth workers, 1 for volunteer tutors)- 1 mapping of engagement opportunities in GIS format- 1 digital guide of inspiring good practices- 1 European meeting to promote youth engagement, EVEday, on 5 June each year (3 events during the project)- 4 national training courses- 1 hybrid training for tutors- 4 dissemination events- 1 European communication campaign for youth organisations and volunteer tutorsIn terms of results the EVE project also aims at - an evolution of youth work and a better consideration of environmental realities and expectations - strengthening the knowledge and skills of youth workers and tutors- the development of mentoring around environmental competence among young people- a better knowledge, understanding and appropriation of the Green Deal among young people- a strengthening of the feeling of European citizenship among young people- a dynamic between European associations and a sharing of resources on the subject- local, regional and national impacts- participation of the youth sector in achieving the objectives of the Green Deal- EVE's contribution to the objectives of the European Youth Strategy"
