The changes and dynamics in the public life in the 21st century impose the need of a rapid adaptation of the educational sphere. The three schools share the conviction that in order to become active, informed and responsible participants in the society, students have to acquire knowledge and understanding of basic concepts such as democracy, citizenship, human rights, equality and non-discrimination throughout their school life. We also stand behind the opinion that teachers should constantly improve their competences and adapt to the fast-paced changing educational realities in terms of new innovative teaching methods and approaches. The main objective of the project is the acquirement of social and civic by the students along with the exchange of experience and good practices between teachers that can contribute to the subsequent development of suitable methods for civic education in schools and improvement of the teaching quality by integrating active learning approaches. The realisation of the project also aims to: increase the capacity and the experience of the participants in project management; strengthen the profile of the teaching profession by supporting teachers to deliver high quality education and adopt new methods and tools; increase the transnational engagement and better understanding of the European dimension of education.Three teachers and 5 students from each participating school will participate in the project. They will be selected according to a jointly pre-defined selection criteria. We envisage the realisation of three transnational LTT events during which different topics will be treated – democracy, human rights and equality and non-discrimination.The envisaged activities in the project will take the form of presentations, demonstrations, role-plays, individual and group tasks, simulations, group discussions, brainstorming, mind maps, etc. Students will have the opportunity to take initiative, present their ideas, resolve emerging problems in concrete situations, deal with information, present the outcomes of their researches. The expected results of the project are the following:- acquirement of social and civic competences, gaining in-depth understanding of human rights and the need to be respected, as well as developing a sense of responsibility and a feel of belonging to a community in order for students to be prepared to actively participate and be involved in the democratic life of their countries.;- teachers exchange of best practices with foreign colleagues, share and discussion of ideas, observation of different teaching approaches;- establishment of a transnational cooperation, creation and deepening of partnerships.
