Immigration et Liberté

Description

"<< Background >>The issue of migration and freedom is one of the main challenges faced by Europe today: for this project we have tried to create a network of schools allowing us to understand the complexity of this topic and including as much personal experience as possible. We want our students to understand the historical dimension of migration, to quantitatively analyze its present aspects / challenges and to consider immigration as an opportunity for the future of Europe. The most important objective of our project will be the promotion, among our pupils, of the rights linked to European citizenship and the common values of the EU; therefore strengthening the participation of young people in the democratic life of the European Union.<< Objectives >>The heart of our project is to stimulate among young people the values and principles of human and democratic rights (such as dignity, equality, solidarity, non-discrimination, pluralism and respect for the law) by promoting a historical and current analysis of immigration. The project involves five countries: France, Romania, Bulgaria, Italy and Spain, and a considerable number of students. The schools, participating in this magnificent experience, are all from mixed or disadvantaged backgrounds. However they all have a similar profile. Even if different in languages and cultures, these schools have a common desire and need: to provide their students the opportunity to open up to other cultures, to get out of their environments, to broaden their cultural horizons, to learn about new innovative learning methods, to develop their autonomy to work in a team and to use foreign languages; opportunities that they could not have without this project.<< Implementation >>We will propose a wide variety of activities in different countries and at different moment of time. In every country, each discipline will hold courses and activities such as specific research targeted to the objectives of the project. Each discipline will submit to students movies, texts or readings, statistical studies on immigration from the OECD, to allow everyone to think deeply about the importance of what they are going to learn. More precisely, we will work on the actual meaning of ""freedom"" and the value given to this word. Students will also have the opportunity to analyze the causes, the motivations and the importance of immigration by participating in conferences and meetings. Pupils will carry out a series of preparation activities in small working groups such as videos, power points, texts, articles or simply display panels. They will always be supervised by their teachers.<< Results >>The local press will be invited to several meetings to disseminate and announce the project. The students will also participate, with their teachers, in cultural visits and meetings with local correspondents, with institutions and professionals, belonging to the sectors of their speciality (trade, marketing, tourism, catering, etc. ...).To carry out the project, we will use innovative methods (team work, implementation of the project in a different framework, use of new technologies via etwinning) which go beyond the traditional school methodology, and thanks to the multidisciplinary approach (modern languages, history, mathematics, philosophy, literature, art, music), the motivation of young people will be enhanced and the acquisition of social and cultural skills will be promoted. European pupils, but also coordinators and teachers, will thus develop and improve their knowledge of languages, in particular French, since it will be a communication tool. The activities will help us to cultivate respect and tolerance towards European cultures, creating the feeling of uniqueness and the removal of prejudices, intolerance and xenophobia from the mentality of pupils, teachers and the whole community, wherever they are from. Our objective is thus to remove from the mentality of our students any populist approach to the migratory phenomenon, by implementing an analysis based on real data and which takes into account values such as human dignity. With regard to our objectives we plan to achieve results such as:(i) the improvement of human and democratic values,(ii) Awareness that cooperation in Europe makes us all citizens of the same country belonging to the european culture.(iii) Learn to accept and respect the freedom of others.(iv) Value, quantify and understand the migration.Exchanges with our partners, sharing their activities and their way of teaching, and the experience through digital tools will bring benefits to teachers. This project will help all the actors involved to learn new teaching methods and approaches. Moreover, students will be involved in several and varied projects to better understand the societal challenges associated with immigration and respect for freedom and fundamental human values."
