Youth Support for a stronger Europe, joining together against gender violence

Description

"The project ""Youth Support for a stronger Europe, joining together against gender violence"" is a multilateral strategic partnership between 5 European countries (Spain, Italy, Malta, Romania and Portugal) which goal, in addition to the specific objectives of the project, is to allow the development of networks, the increase of the capacity to work at a transnational level and the sharing and confrontation of ideas, practices and methods. Following the EU 2020 strategy, which has among its main objectives the fight against violence, we want to take an important step to prevent youth violence by involving schools, institutes and educational centers to inform, teach and above all, educate on this issue. The similarities of this phenomenon in these European countries lead us to develop mechanisms of awareness and education that will provide young people with the tools and instruments to develop non-violence physical, psychological, verbal and social relationships. The main objectives of our project are: to raise awareness of the problem in young people, teachers, youth organizations and public institutions; the improvement of young people's relationship skills and personal sense of security; the improvement of the formal, non-formal and informal education system on the subject. Our project will involve 500 young people between 15 and 18 years old and more than 100 professionals and experts on the subject (teachers, educators, psychologists and youth workers). For the main activities of AEF Youth the partners will prepare 7 educational modules on specific topics to recognize and combat youth gender violence that will lead to the elaboration and dissemination of a final joint document of exchange of good practices about the nonformal activities to prevent gender violence. All partners will promote the project in schools, institutes and organizations working with young people to get in touch with educators interested in the project. These educational modules will be implemented, together with a test on youth violence, in class activities with students from the countries involved, evaluating the learning outcome and the level of satisfaction of students and teachers; this will be used for a qualitative and quantitative analysis. This work with the target group will be carried out through a non-formal methodology developed by the partners during the preparation of the exchange of good practices in the Short-term joint staff training event in Italy (C1). To disseminate the results of the project throughout Europe, a database of open materials, brochures, websites and digital magazines will be used, and a number of events will be organized in the countries of each partner. The joint document of good practices can be downloaded for free from the project website. There will also be three transnational meetings and a final conference in Spain promoted by the City Council of Madrid, partner of the project. Our AEF Juventud project will have a real impact on society, creating the necessary values in adolescence to avoid and reduce youth gender violence. Thanks to class work, meetings with interested partners and educators, and the large group of participants and centers that will work for the project, great results will be achieved: getting young people to change their vision and become aware of dangerous situations, improvement in the awareness of educators, parents and society in general on the need to combat youth violence and all its physical and psychological consequences; the development of greater security, tolerance, values, civic sense and new relational skills in young people, thanks to the work in the classroom, and finally ensure that schools integrate this topic within their subjects. In addition, the website will be constantly updated information and the material will be freely accessible and can be download for those who are interested, also after the closure of the project. All this in order to realize the sustainability of the project and ensure that this will produce long-term benefits, even in countries not directly involved and also after its completion. We firmly believe that the AEF Youth project offers broad possibilities to innovate and promote the fight against youth gender violence and to motivate young people to overcome their fears in order to build a world of peace."
