In addition, the development of disruptive technologies and emergence of new mobility solutions generate a revolution in transport network and traffic management. SYNCHROMODE aims to develop data driven ICT tools for improving the management of transport operations from a multimodal perspective and managing the overall transport network as a whole. SYNCHROMODE will provide to transport managers new predictive and network optimization capabilities for balancing the transport supply and demand, and capable of reacting to different types of events. The project will research in transport network supply& demand modelling, simulation and prediction of future states; optimization techniques for multimodal traffic optimisation, standards for data collection and storage; new governance models in transport management and new approaches for defining KPI for assessing the overall solution. SYNCHROMODE will deliver a suite of services for improving the overall transport network management, fostering the coordination of different agents involved in the provision and control of the transport services, the services are: 1) Transport network-wide data exchange and integration system; 2) Cooperative dashboard for real-time monitoring and prediction of network-wide multimodal transport and traffic; 3) Resilient multimodal transport network and traffic management support tool. SYNCHROMODE system will test and validate its results in 3 real Case studies, Thessaloniki (GR), Netherlands and Madrid (SP), with real data from various modes of transport under different traffic events, such as bottlenecks, accidents etc.

We will produce new understandings to underpin the exploitation of techniques and technologies that enhance our ability to recover, refine, reuse, repurpose, capture value from, and extend the use-life of, an ever-increasing range of resources and products, thereby projecting the European water and allied sectors as global circular economy pioneers. NextGen will demonstrate innovative technological, business and governance solutions for water in the circular economy in ten high-profile, large-scale, demonstration cases across Europe, and we will develop the necessary approaches, tools and partnerships, to transfer and upscale. The circular economy transition to be driven by NextGen encompasses a wide range of water-embedded resources: water itself (reuse at multiple scales supported by nature-based storage, optimal management strategies, advanced treatment technologies, engineered ecosystems and compact/mobile/scalable systems); energy (combined water-energy management, treatment plants as energy factories, water-enabled heat transfer, storage and recovery for allied industries and commercial sectors) and materials (nutrient mining and reuse, manufacturing new products from waste streams, regenerating and repurposing membranes to reduce water reuse costs, and producing activated carbon from sludge to minimise costs of micro-pollutant removal). The project mobilises a strong partnership of water companies, industry, specialised SMEs, applied research institutes, technology platforms, city and regional authorities and builds on an impressive portfolio of past research and innovation projects, leveraging multiple European and global networks guaranteeing real impact.

NEFERTITI focuses on creating added value from the exchange of knowledge, actors, farmers and technical content over the networks in order to boost innovation uptake, to improve peer to peer learning and network connectivity between farms actors across Europe, thus contributing to a more competitive, sustainable and climate-smart agriculture. NEFERTITI address 10 themes that have been chosen based on key concerns of the farming communities of the regional hubs in the project, covering together a balanced range of themes over three main agricultural sectors: animal production, arable farming and horticultural production. The themes have also been chosen regarding their innovation potential, their demonstration potential and the cross-fertilisation potential among the themes, the sectors and the actors. Themes are closely linked to the H2020 Thematic Networks and will connect with other organisational structures at grass root level, like EIP operational groups and study clubs that will confer to the project a key role of accelerator and empowerment of the dissemination and of the uptake of the practical-oriented knowledge delivered by all EIP related projects. A monitoring and learning program supports the systematic extraction of lessons learnt, lessons to be shared with wide audiences including AKIS actors and public authorities. A web based platform unlocks the experience, actors, demo details and the related content for wide spread sharing, enhanced by dedicated production of relevant material (including high-quality professional videos) in each language of the partners. NEFERTITI will engage a policy dialogue with EU Regions to match farmers and policy makers’ interests in view of the networks sustainability.
