The Jonge Onderzoekersdag (JOD) is an annual networking event organized by the TULIPS foundation, a multidisciplinary network of pediatricians, physiotherapists, psychologists, and biomedical researchers. TULIPS is specifically involved in scientific research in child health by both medical and paramedical professionals. The aim of the JOD is to bring together a new generation of young researchers in this field and train them to become the research leaders of tomorrow. This year, the theme Science Communication will take center stage, with attention given to science communication for various target groups, from patients and the general public, to the scientific community.

The timing of light exposure, physical activity, and food intake are important cues for synchronising the biological clock. Disruption of the biological clock is a clear threat to both public health and vulnerable ecosystems. Especially in a highly industrialised country such as The Netherlands there is a mismatch between biological clocks and social demands. However, these cues have drastically – and abruptly - changed in our modern society due to the widespread use of artificial light and the round-the-clock demand for goods and services. Fundamental research has shown that precisely these conditions cause desynchrony among clock cells.

CardioResource will be the first national registry for patients with Heritable cardiac conditions. By bringing together the resources of all seven largest Dutch University Medical Centers, it will enable breakthrough research into these diseases by combining cutting edge (AI-based) analysis in genetics, imaging and the integration of clinical data. This will lead to more accurate diagnosis and improved understanding of the risk of developing disease and severe cardiac complications for patients and their families. It will also facilitate the development of novel therapies for more effective and targeted treatment of these life-threatening conditions.
