The European economy is constantly evolving. The demand for relevant knowledge, skills and attitudes changes over time. Critical thinking, creativity and the ability to work as part of a team are equally important to build sustainable careers and become active citizens. Education through Sport (ETS) is a non-formal educational approach that works with sport and physical activities and which refers to the development of key competences of individuals and groups in order to contribute to the personal development and sustainable social transformation. Since the beginning of the 21st century the priority guidelines of the European model of development include the spirit of innovation, the development of a knowledge-based society and improving economic competitiveness for better social cohesion. In this context, ETS plays an important role and involves a reflection concerning better complementarities between different educational patterns in order to achieve the objectives set up by the European strategies. The ETS concept normally used in the school and youth education fields can be applied in the adult education sector as innovative method, targeting vulnerable learners who can improve their soft skills for better social and labour inclusion. The KeyActs project brings together a cross-sector, strategic partnership of 5 organisations from 4 Member States to support the exchange of best practices in the adult education (AE) sector by creating, piloting and disseminating a training methodology, using the sport for development of key competences of disadvantaged adult learners in the participating project countries (Bulgaria, Germany, Portugal & Spain) and across Europe. The KeyActs main objectives are:• Support disadvantaged learners by providing non-formal education through sport training and guidance, as a way of preventing social exclusion;• Empower and strengthen the role of adult education providers, exchanging best practices on sport pedagogical approaches, making them able to deal with diversity in non-formal learning environment;• Build close cooperation between civil society, youth and sport organisations, local authorities and the private sector to ensure the active participation of all members of the learning community in acquiring key competences;• Involve the wider community in the promotion of EU strategies for LLL (life-long learning) and social inclusion of disadvantaged adult learners. The project targets professionals/trainers/coaches from 4 EU countries and abroad, who work with socially disadvantaged adults (immigrants, refugees, NEETs, ESL, rural women, victims of violence, disabled people, ethnic minorities, etc.) and the vulnerable adult learners as final beneficiaries. KeyActs will respond to the needs of the AEPs to offer tailor-made learning forms to socially excluded learners on one side and on other side will meet the needs of vulnerable learners, enabling them to develop new competences and qualifications, which are essential for achieving economic competitiveness. The main output delivered will be an online Training Toolbox for Adult Education Providers (AEPs), offering training sessions meeting the needs and realities of disadvantaged adults, enhancing their skills and boosting their employability and integration in the European societies. Joint Staff Training will gather AEPs from the 4 countries to exchange best practices and acquire knowledge on the ETS approach, which later will be applied in pilot tests with adult learners in each country. 4 TMs, video conferences, focus groups, promotional and MEs form part of the management, dissemination, evaluation and follow-up activities.Total of 257 direct beneficiaries will be involved in the project, being 58% of them people with fewer opportunities (15 adult education providers in JST; 80 vulnerable adults in pilot tests of the Toolbox; 120 stakeholders in Multiplier Events celebrated in the 4 partner countries; 42 staff members and associated partners in transnational meetings and implementation tasks). Approximately 4000 people will be indirectly reached through the planned dissemination channels. The partnership will continuously monitor and evaluate the project results, ensuring their broad exploitation by running co-development and exchange activities with institutions, communities and networks. As long-term benefits are expected the empowering, up-skilling and re-skilling of disadvantaged adult learners in the 4 partners' regions and other EU countries, thanks to the transferability of the developed outputs; equipping adult education providers with contemporary resources, using ETS approach; supporting the social inclusion of vulnerable groups, providing quality tailored education with equal access to all; networking at European level between public and private sectors, education, youth and sport organisations for development of key competences and improvement of the basic and transversal skills of the European citizens.

"Five organizations from Poland, the Netherlands, Italy, Romania and Portugal take part in the ""Culture of Solidarity"" project. The essence of the project is the exchange of good practices and mutual learning. All partners have long been conducting non-standard educational activities based on the use of creative methods in combination with art and cultural heritage. The partners are very different in terms of target groups and methods of operation. The confrontation of various experiences will allow to gain a different perspective on their current activity, adopt new solutions and reflect on what features and skills of educators are universal in the work of all project partners. The difference of the project consists in departing from narrow specialization in order to increase the ability to respond to the changing reality and new challenges resulting from unpredictable phenomena (pandemic, mass migration, climate change). The partners' experiences show that traditional adult education consisting in preparing an educational offer and then recruiting is becoming less and less effective. It is more and more difficult to attract new participants, especially outside large cities and in groups at risk of social exclusion. Therefore, it seems necessary to develop a different approach to non-formal adult education (including young people). The educator should also be an animator working ""from the inside"" and professional artists should work with the local community to create joint works. The role of such an educator is to stimulate selected communities to cultural activity and artistic creativity that arise from the needs and cultural heritage of these communities: discover interesting phenomena, find individualities, build a community within diverse environments. Such activities should be directed primarily to the inhabitants of the borderland, national, ethnic and cultural minorities, migrants and refugees, seniors, the so-called troubled youth.Educational and animation activities should bring lasting, long-term effects, as well as combine many different fields of art and cultural activity. It should also cover human rights and anti-discrimination issues. It should be a culture of solidarity. This can be, for example, the preparation of a theater team working on a play based on local history, organizing literary and photo competitions, etc., combined with workshops, an exhibition, and the publication of works; work on a film about local issues combined with a ceremonial screening, creating a website devoted to local issues, etc. The ability to cooperate with local partners: local authorities, cultural institutions, informal groups of residents is also of great value. The project assumes a departure from excessive specialization, which limits the possibilities of adapting to the changing reality. Organizers and educators should be prepared to work in various environments (age, nationality, religion, cultural heritage). The educator should have unique qualifications: knowledge about the environment, empathy, organizational skills, team building and teamwork skills, etc. The ability to create communities based on shared values is also important. The project involves the exchange of experience in this field among partners very diverse in terms of educational methods and tools, environments in which they work, organizational forms (ngo, public institutions, schools). The aim of the project is to prepare a new type of educators and to enrich the educational offer of the project participants."

"In a context where too many young people leave school prematurely, the project ""Mediterranean New Chance network : a network for the successful integration of young NEETs"" strengthened the key skills and social inclusion of these early school leavers, thanks to the identification and sharing of innovative, replicable and result-oriented initiatives and methods , as well as good exchanges between VET staff. This 18-months strategic partnership (September 2018 – February 2020) was part of the Mediterranean New Chance network that brings together actors working for the socio-professional integration of young NEETs in the Euro-Mediterranean area. This partnership was made up of six French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese organizations, which have shown their ability to help the integration of early school leavers with vocational training. This project enabled to share and promote their successful experiences through a process of trainings and exchange of good practices at the Euro-Mediterranean level. On the long term, the impacts are the social inclusion of more low-skilled or early school leavers, but also the reinforcement of the cooperation between these organizations and the territorial and national institutions, who can then incorporate those good practices into their education policy.Concretely, the partners used the following means and tools:* Exchange of good practices and trainings during 5 conferences and transnational meetings organized by and for the members of this partnership and the Mediterranean New Chance network* Creation and diffusion of 2 guides of good practices, including 1 platform of podcasts, presenting the best practices related to the socio-professional insertion of the young NEETs in the countries of this strategic partnership and of the Mediterranean New Chance network. Those tools are open-access and intuitive.*Creation and diffusion of 1 literacy review that gives concretes context data and presents the challenges of NEETs integration in the Mediterranean region* Improvement of the quality, reliability and transmission of information and communication between the members of the Mediterranean New Chance network; and the presentation of reliable and quality information related to early school leavers who benefitted from the project.*Advocacy actions that enabled the Mediterranean New Chance network to be recognized at the Summit of the two Shores in 2019."
