Skillsea will foster cooperation on a European level between the industry, education and training providers and authorities to develop a strategy to make the education and training for maritime professionals future proof, adaptable and attractive, to provide maritime professionals with the correct skills for the labour market and to ensure sustainability of the European maritime industry. Besides development of the strategy, the project will support implementation of the strategy and products developed during and after the lifetime of the project. Thereby, Skillsea will provide a concrete, sustainable solution for the qualitative and quantitave mismatch between demand for and supply of labour, will increase labour mobility within the sector (horizontal, vertical and geographical) and enhance attractiveness of the sector. Skillsea follows the approach of skills needs identification (current, medium term and long term), design and delivery of VET, the development of strategy as well as stakeholder mobilisation and awareness raising as sustainable implementation.

TRUSTEE project aims at supporting the European roadmap to deploy the ZEWT providing the decision makers and the wide stakeholders community with a comprehensive and science-based set of knowledge and recommendations built on an evidence based approach, founded on: - clarity and comprehensiveness of foresight scenarios in 2030 and 2050 where ZEWT will be deployed - a comparative multidimensional assessment framework incorporating environmental, social, technological, financial and operational aspects, including safety and security aspects for workforce and citizens - a robust validation roadmap with an equitable representation of direct and indirect stakeholders. TRUSTEE is built on the following objectives: - Define and validate future European ZEWT wide ecosystem at 2030 and 2050 time horizons through foresight scenarios - Detail and validate the most promising ZEWT Use Cases for the 2030 and 2050 target horizons - Build and validate a multi-stakeholders and cross-sectorial assessment framework for system components and overall ecosystems underpinning the Zero Emissions target in the European water transport sector - Identify systemic and sectorial barriers challenging the ZWET targets and defining recommendations for its timely deployment - Create a common knowledge background among all direct and indirect stakeholders for ZEWT targets timely achievement. Thanks to a consortium with relevant expertise and strong institutional liaison with all the ZEWT stakeholders, TRUSTEE will achieve the desired impact delivering actionable Open Access Results: - ZEWT 2030 and 2050 foresight scenarios - ZEWT technology readiness review - Comparative analysis framework for ZEWT use cases assessment, combining environmental, technical integration, operational, societal and financial indicators - ZEWT barrier analysis - Most promising ZEWT Use Cases - Recommendations for ZEWT standards, regulations and policy development - ZEWT open access learning pack.

AENEAS aims to contribute towards climate-neutral and environmental friendly water transport through three new next generation clean energy storage solutions. Eventual impact is an increase of the global competitiveness of the EU waterborne transport sector by European technology leadership for energy storage solutions for diverse waterborne applications. It will focus on increased and early deployment of climate neutral energy storage solutions and significant electrification of shipping. AENEAS will provide solutions to improve overall energy efficiency and drastically lower energy consumption of waterborne transport vessels, founded upon innovative electric energy storage, which is safe and cost competitiveness compared to traditional batteries. To achieve this, AENEAS will develop three innovative electric Energy Storage Solutions (ESS) for waterborne transport, which are advanced beyond the traditional battery systems: - Solid-state batteries (SSB) for constant load waterborne transport applications. - Supercapacitors (SC) for water-borne transport applications for shaving of power peak demands and peaks during loading. - Hybrid system, which combines SSB and SC for waterborne transport applications requiring high energy and power density energy storage solutions The solutions enable (partial or full) electric shipping, taking into account conditions specific ships might encounter, including adverse conditions outside sheltered waters or going upstream on rivers. AENEAS will evaluate them for a range of applications and end uses in short-sea shipping and in-land waterways. For each of these three ESSs, one use-case will be demonstrated at TRL 5. At the same time AENEAS will define the pathway for the three ESSs for application in different ship types, achieving a comprehensive understanding of the ESSs and their applicability for diverse waterborne transport. Finally AENEAS will define a roadmap for full scale on-board demonstrators of two ESSs by 2027.
