Egypt is experiencing a transition from production-based economies to ones based on knowledge and information. This transition changed the nature of jobs and the required skills. Competing in this global economy requires a science and engineering workforce that is consistently at the technological forefront. So, EG should examine the extent to which their current workforce meets their needs for human capital. The wider objective of this project is Bridging the qualification gap of professional engineers in EG with the EU standards The project aims to develop a LLL framework and four e-Lifelong learning centers (e-LLC) in four different EG universities to create progressively evolution from establishing of framework to develop actions and connections with engineering communityThe Specific objectives of the project are:1. Defining the qualification gap between Egyptian engineering and the labor market2. Developing of an innovative LLL framework in partner universities3. Establishing of four professional e- Lifelong Learning training Centers (e-LLC)4. Developing an online Learning Management System (LMS)The engineering profession must revisit and update its mindset and adopt a new mission statement - to contribute to build of a more sustainable, stable, and equitable world. Engineers must adopt a completely innovative attitude toward natural and cultural systems and reconsider interactions between engineering disciplines and nontechnical fields. The project will be carried out to reach the following outputs1. EU experiences benchmarking in (3) engineering disciplines2. Gap analysis report & EU Best practice manuals3. Lifelong Learning framework and Professional standards4. Training Course Contents and Materials5. Training Program (4 training Modules)6. Four E-Lifelong Learning Centers7. Online Learning Management System8. Recognition Process and measures & Pilot implementation,

Over the past 50 years, the continued miniaturization of transistors has allowed them to run faster and dissipate less energy. This meant more efficient computation and radical changes in the electronics industry. On the same time, automation and robotics have also developed all these years to an unprecedented level: faster and more flexible production lines and higher level of automation have been created. This radical change affected all the industrial and societal sectors, and it is difficult for a country to keep-up to the globalization changes, if its educational system does not keep-up with these. For specific regions of Asia however, this process have not been developed adequately. To this end, the Digi-CHE-Asia project focuses on enhancing the Digital Capacities of these countries through specific actions and cross-fertilization of ideas and methodologies with successful examples from Europe. The Digi-CHE-Asia project has 3 main pillars: a) the enhancement of undergraduate studies via suggestions to optimize curricula, b) the development of an innovative MSc programme in relation also with VET courses for professionals and c) the inclusion of public and private stakeholders, especially from the manufacturing and high-tech industry in order to give the opportunity to students and professionals to increase their capacities in Electronics, Automation and Robotics (EAR) and thus becoming invaluable assets to the modern industries.Additionally, Digi-CHE-Labs will be created in order to create a focal point of EAR in each University, where interested students, academics, professionals and industry experts will have the opportunity to exchange ideas and keep up-to-date with the new technological advancements. It is expected that the Digi-CHE-Asia project will have an important impact at academic, industrial and societal level, allowing the participating countries to become important players in the manufacturing and high-tech industry.

HEIs in the MENA region have been struggling to uphold their functions, as demonstrated by high unemployment rates for university graduates and lack of community engagement and public debate. Given the expected increase in university enrollment and the global progression of technological advancements, HEIs need to move towards more value-added activities to produce graduates who are capable to join the labour market, prepared to participate in research, and aware of contemporary issues such as Sustainable Urban Mobility. This project intends to strengthen the relations between HEIs and the wider economic and social environment through a forum for UPGRADE. UPGRADE aims at directing the development of higher education and research, and involving transport businesses, to address the transport challenges in Partner Countries and serve the needs of unprivileged minorities of society. Being a hot topic on the international agenda, UPGRADE puts emphasis on the global refugee crisis that evolved lately in the EU and the MENA region. In particular, addressing the accessibility and mobility challenges of refugees in their host countries is selected as a case study. The project blends theoretical knowledge and best practices from different fields to tackle a real-world case study through the involvement of NGOs, local voluntary associations, and the business sector. Multidisciplinary courses will be taught at HEIs of Partner Countries after a process of curriculum reforms and lab developments. Project outputs include developed courses, upgraded facilities, training of trainers and students, transport business model, and publications. The diversity of courses and the real-life exposure will allow students to have the chance to get out of the cocoons of their universities, spread their wings, and test their ability to soar. As such, UPGRADE responds to a regional educational need and an international commitment.

This project is responding to the emerged needs and challenges in Jordan. This include climate change, low employment rate of engineers, the gap between workforce supply and demand, the rapidly growing market of Electric vehicles and Hybrid vehicles (EV and HEV) and the need for servicing and maintaining them. The main scope is to equip the engineers with the needed practical skills in the field of EV and HEV and qualify them to local, regional and international markets, through developing a professional diploma and integrate some of these courses within existing programmes. Through this diploma, students will get the needed skills to maintain and operate Electric and Hybrid vehicles with appropriate knowledge in the fields of climate change, vehicle manufacturing systems, and life cycle assessment. The envisaged impacts within this project include:• Increase the employability of Engineers in Local, Regional and International Market • Reduce air pollution and mitigate climate change impact on Jordan, through increase the use of EV/HEV• Enhance the quality of the vocational training provided in the vocational training centers, through employing the trained engineers in those centers• Improve the level of provided services for repairing and maintaining electric and Hybrid vehicles in Jordanian enterprises. • Satisfying industry and economical needs by empowering engineers.• Helping to move Jordan forward to become a host for Electrical and Hybrid vehicles industry in future

Central Asia (CA) needs modernization and capacity building on environmental protection techniques to reduce huge human and economic losses caused by disasters originated from improper environmental management. The aim of this project is sustainable capacity building in CA for environmental protection, using spatial methods. A consortium consisting of EU and non-EU partners as well as local stakeholders (including associate partners) in CA will collaborate in this project. Three innovative and blended courses on applications of spatial information science and technologies for environmental protection and disaster risk management will be developed, based on Bologna framework, to be taught in HEIs. The courses will be developed based on the needs of stakeholders and the region in general. E-learning systems will be setup in partner universities to offer the courses to stakeholders and students on a distance and blended mode, besides in campus training. It is in line with meeting the priority of the region on using ICT-based and flexible education in CA. An internet-based information Management System for Environmental Protection (iMSEP) will be developed and implemented for the stakeholders to be used for the collection, storage, management and analysis of spatial information for a better knowledge-based environmental protection. Training of trainers will be conducted for partner universities on how to teach and update the courses. Special training will take place, both in EU and CA, on how to use and support iMSEP. It guarantees the sustainability of using and supporting iMSEP in the region. Four workshops with the participation of HEIs, stakeholders, associate partners and students will be hold to disseminate the outcomes/outputs of the project. Culturing the use of spatial methods for environmental protection and enterprise-university cooperation will be motivated and addressed during the project, especially in the workshops. All outcomes will be evaluated.
