Levels of walking and biking to school are decreasing in many European countries. The main reason of decreasing the levels of biking to school is that more and more children are transported to their school by their parents’ cars or the school buses. These modes of transport to school have some negative effects such as lack of physical activity, obesity, air pollution, lack of confidence and independent skills and expensive modes of transport. Such negative effects are also common to 6 partner schools in this project. We know that it is a global challenge that needs local solutions. Therefore, we came together and designed our project: Bike2school. The internationality of this project will allow the exchange of best practices and new ideas among partner countries to promote Bike-friendly schools for healthier, educated and more environment-friendly generations across Europe.5 countries and 6 schools will be involved in this project (Turkey, UK, Denmark, Hungary and Croatia) with approximately 700 students aged between 10-12 and about 50 teachers and educators. The other participants of this project will be cycling instructors, parents, educators and leaders, local authorities with different experience, knowledge and beliefs, but common educational ideals. For this project our OBJECTIVES:-To inculcate school community with the benefits of Bike2school regarding health, environment, self-development and economy-To obtain theoretical and practical skills for pupils and teachers to carry out Safe Biking Program in their schools-To equip pupils with theoretical and practical Traffic Rules and Safe Biking skills-To give responsibility to school community in Environment-friendly activities to raise awareness on the Environment Issues and Global Warming-To develop pupils’ physical power, self-confidence, responsibility, independence, problem-solving, communicative and competitive skills-To encourage pupils to work and produce together with their schoolmates and with other partner countries’ students using ICT, foreign language, communication and teamwork skills-To enrich teachers’ mutual exchange with partner schools’ teachers to gain new ideas and insights in order to promote Bike2school across Europe. To achieve these objectives, we will organize 3 short term staff training and 2 short term exchange of pupils’ mobilityThroughout short-term staff training, we will gain new insights, exchange best practices to obtain theoretical and practical competence to carry out Safe Biking programs and develop skills of international communication, English and ICT. CONTEXTWe are 6 schools from Europe willing to increase our students’ knowledge and interests in the cultural (Geography, History)heritage of our countries. Our society is so much globalized , almost each human being ia about to forget his/her own national heritage, this is why we intend to challenge our students to search their own history by becoming aware of the customs and traditions which have been passed on from generation to generation. We believe that an individual who don’t know his own roots, will don’t know his foundation and by this way he will never thrive. By our project , we intend to develop our students’ patriotic behaviors, both making them look back to their past and their origins and opening their horizon to other cultures and their diversity. Our intention is to involve students 100% in the project, this is why we provide them a key role in all activities .When the project starts, students will learn during a training for 3 months the better use of some mobile applications and online instruments in order to create great materials for the project. During the mobilities, students will develop activities with guests, make presentations, becoming guides in cultural visits and creating evaluation forms for the guests for identifying the effectiveness of their work . This is an education project mainly focused on “IMPROVING BOOK READING, TRASNFORMING KNOWLEDGE INTO PRACTICAL ACTIVITIES” and leading our students to read more, to be active more by participating in Arts, ICT, Media, Literary, Social and Volunteering activities. So its move is “ READING”. It is developed by participation of schools from Europe Union.Whenever you read a book, you learn a new information that otherwise would not have known. Studies have shown that reading has strong positive effects on the brain. Every time people read a book, you have to remember the setting of the book, the characters, their backgrounds, their history, their personalities, the sub-plots and so much more. As your brain learns to remember all this, your memory becomes better. Reading has a positive effect on the body as well. Reading a bookcan relieve stress better than taking a walk or listening to music. The more people read, the more imaginative they become.Whenever children read a fiction book, it takes them another world. One of the primary benefits of reading books is its ability to develop critical thinking skills. Critical thinking skills are crucial when it comes to making important day to day decisions. Reading improves children vocabulary and command on the language. As they read, they come across new words, idioms, new words, phrases and writing styles.OBJECTIVESThe completion of the project will lead our students to read more, to be active more by participating in Arts, ICT, Media, Literary, Social and Volunteering activities. Our students will be active readers and they will gain skills for how to transform a book into their own products. We will struggle to make books important again since the books are the true source for true information. The project will promote to have better literary pleasure, to face with arts and to recognise cultural treasurebetween our studentsACTIVITIESThe project include two types of action. Every partner will read on their own national books and when they come together in the LTTA meetings, they will meet them together and produce their activities together. Activities and products will be multi national.METHEDOLOGYAfter the beginning of the project, we will set up project clubs in the schools and will announce the students to join the club. Minimum 50 students will be involved. These 50 students will be divided into 5 teams as; Literature Team, ICT teams, Culture Team, Magazine Team, Arts Team. These team will be given tasks for a curtain duration regards to stages and activities of the project. All teams will work and support the main body of the project under supervision the teachers. There are 5 L/T/T/A in two years. Teachers will lead the students to join all kind of activities (Book reading, Creation of scenario, magazine, taking short movie; etc./ the usual side activities like; preparing Erasmus+ corner, taking photos and videos to put into digital monitor, logo contest, joining seminars, preparing traveler manuals, etc. )PARTICIPANTOur project is prepared mainly for the students and all the stages are designed for them. Teachers are added into as supervisor and beneficiaries. Administrative staff are the other participants. Parents and local community will be the side beneficiaries since they will be the target group of while we are disseminating our project activities, outputs and results.IMPACTAn important impact will be provided to the participant by the project, direct and indirectly.
